The main aims of the Foundation are:-

A.    To promote, encourage, facilitate studies, discussions, seminars, dialogues, interactions, programmes and other activities in the following areas:

  1. Indian cultural traditions and heritage including literature, art, aesthetics, philosophy, history and related subjects.

  2. The Indian (or South Asian) diaspora, that is, persons and communities of Indian origin settled abroad - their culture, literature, arts, history - and their interactions with India and their host countries.

  3. Education, including value education in India, in schools, colleges, and other forms of learning including traditional crafts, contemporary non-formal education, adult education, and so on.

  4. Spiritual and sacred traditions of India, as well as other countries, including their transformations and movements for reform and renewal.

  5. Alternatives to dominant models of development including new and sustainable wages of hiring, working and alternatives in technology, urban habitat et cetera.

  6. Futures including innovations in communications, global synergies, emerging world cultures and communities and others.

B.    To administer the "Raja Rao Award" for an outstanding contribution to the literature and culture of the South Asian diaspora.

C.    To promote the functioning of the study group entitled The Delhi Forum on Criticism and Interpretation.

D.    To establish, support, maintain, acquire, run and/or grant aid and other financial assistance to pathshalas, schools, colleges, libraries, reading rooms, hostels, boarding houses, and other institutions of similar nature for use of the students and the staff and also generally for the development and/or advancement of education and diffusion of knowledge amongst the public in general.

E.     To establish, maintain and/or run studentships, scholarships and other kind or aid to needy students, including supply of books, stipends, medals and other incentives to study and to provide board and residence for poor students in general.

F.     To establish, maintain and grant aid to homes, orphanages or other establishments for relief and to give help to the poor and destitute people, orphans and widows and otherwise provide for them.

G.    To grant relief during natural calamities such as famine, drought, earthquake, flood, fire, cyclone, pestilence and others of similar nature and to give donations, subscriptions or contributions to institutions, funds, establishments or persons carrying on such relief work.

H.    To establish and/or render assistance and/or grant for a project for pollution-free environment and other schemes that improve the environment.

 I.     To render assistance and/or grant aid to recognized public charitable trusts or institutions.

J.     To do any other act for the advancement of any other object of general public utility without distinction of caste, colour and creed.
